Halle Tupuivao

On the 22nd of September Hamish and I hosted the NewstalkZB show “The Nutters Club.”

We talked with Halle Tupuivao who shared her story of causing major disruption in her year 13 class, and as a highly intelligent and an independent thinker, she felt rightfully upset as she noticed she was being encouraged to aim for factory jobs rather than becoming a lawyer, doctor or similar. Tupuivao went through a period of partying, drug abuse, an abusive relationship and at one stage found herself without a home. However with the support of her mother, Tupuivao got back on her feet and became a caring mother and huge force for grass roots community advocacy and change. Tupuivao is now studying law, while involved in many different initiatives supporting those less fortunate than herself.

With thanks to NZ on Air.
